Matt’s connection to Canada and Canadian harp music.
My journey to Canadian music began when I arrived in 2015 since then, I discovered wonderful harpists, musicians and compositions. I always include Canadian composition to my recital program. It’s nice to listen to the European masters but people need to discover Canadian (therefore local) composers and talents. And I love sharing them with the audience! Canada is where I belong. Harp Studies
I studied in France with Audrey Perrin, Nicolas Tulliez / then I did my Masters with Heidi Krutzen at UBC in Vancouver / I finally ended my studies with Caroline Lizotte (for an Artist Diploma at the Université de Montréal) / lessons with Judy Loman and Jennifer Swartz. – Matt
Career
Mostly in Montréal, QC. I teach in Montréal and Trois-Rivières (1.5 hour out of Montréal). I perform mainly in Montreal within orchestras. I give solo recitals as well. The harp made me travel across Quebec province and across Canada (National Arts Centre Orchestra – Ottawa, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra – Manitoba, Banff Arts Centre – Alberta…) – Matt

C’est dans ces mots de Fiodor Dostoïevski que Matt Dupont puise son inspiration. Matt est un musicien sensible et ambitieux. Il consacre autant d’énergie à sa carrière de soliste et musicien d’orchestre qu’à celle de professeur.
Matt commence l’apprentissage de la harpe en France à l’âge de 8 ans. Très vite, il comprend qu’il en fera une carrière. Déterminé et curieux de tout, il se perfectionne à l’étranger auprès des plus grands. C’est ainsi qu’il apprend de Nicolas Tulliez à Shanghai, étudie avec Heidi Krutzen à Vancouver et complète sa formation auprès de Caroline Lizotte.
Son style musical raffiné et élégant lui vaut d’être appelé à jouer au sein des orchestres majeurs au Québec, tels que l’Orchestre Métropolitain, l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec et l’Orchestre symphonique du Centre National des Arts à Ottawa. Il joue régulièrement avec l’Orchestre FILMharmonique qui produit des ciné-concerts et accompagne des artistes tels que Lisa LeBlanc, Patrick Watson et Andrea Bocelli. Il donne fréquemment des concerts de musique de chambre et des récitals en solo. À l’hiver 2023-2024, Matt a fait une tournée au Québec, en Ontario et au Nouveau-Brunswick avec les Jeunesses Musicales Canada. Récemment, Matt a participé à l’enregistrement de la bande sonore des films Menteuse, Mlle Bottine et celui de la troisième saison de la série américaine The White Lotus. On a aussi pu le voir jouer de la harpe dans le film Les jours heureux de Chloé Robichaud. Plus récemment, Matt a représenté le Canada à Paris en offrant un récital solo d’œuvres d’artistes canadiens au Centre culturel canadien à l’été 2025.
Récipiendaire de plusieurs prix et bourses d’études, Matt remporte la deuxième place au Prix Orford Musique en 2020.
Parallèlement à sa carrière d’interprète, Matt enseigne la harpe à l’École de musique Vincent d’Indy à Montréal et au Conservatoire du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Il transmet avec passion et énergie son amour de la musique pour ainsi former les musiciens de la relève.

From these words by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Matt Dupont takes his inspiration. Matt is asensitive and ambitious musician, as dedicated to his solo and orchestral performance career as he is to his teaching.
Matt took up the harp at the age of eight and quickly realized he had found his calling. Full of curiosity and determination, he set off to study abroad with great masters, including Nicolas Tulliez in Shanghai (China) and Heidi Krutzen in Vancouver (BC, Canada), before returning to complete his studies with Caroline Lizotte in Montreal (PQ, Canada).
Matt’s elegant and refined style has earned him a number of invitations to play with some of Quebec’s premier orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Québec Symphony Orchestra as well as the National Arts Centre Symphony Orchestra (Ottawa, ON).
He plays regularly with the Orchestre Filmharmonique which produces film concerts and accompanies artists such as Lisa LeBlanc, Patrick Watson and Andrea Bocelli.. He frequently gives chamber music concerts and solo recitals. In the winter of 2023-2024, Matt toured Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick with Jeunesses Musicales Canada. Recently, Matt participated in the recording of the soundtracks for the films Menteuse, Mlle Bottine and the third season of the American series The White Lotus. We could also see him playing the harp in the movie Days of Happiness by Chloé Robichaud. More recently, Matt represented Canada in Paris while performing a solo recital of works by Canadian artists at the Canadian Cultural Centre in the summer of 2025.
Among the many prizes and scholarships Matt has received, he recently won Second Place at the prestigious Orford Music Award in 2020.
In addition to his performing career, Matt teaches the harp at the École de Musique Vincent-d’Indy in Montreal and at the Conservatoire du Québec à Trois-Rivières. He is truly devoted to his students as he believes in the next generation to become aspiring musicians.
